Regardless of the economy or your financial status, some things are just better when you can get a good deal.  So how to save money?

Decide on colors from the beginning
Once you select the colors, you will be able to buy and collect items in those colors while they are on sale.  It’s even better if you have an engagement lasting more than a year because you can buy items at after season sales.

Consider an off season or off day wedding
A wedding on a Sunday in January will yield huge savings with the venue and most of the vendors you will end up hiring.  And bonus – you won’t have to fight for your favorite vendors!

Search the internet for coupons
Think you’ve found the best price for table linens?  Before you buy, do a quick search on retailmenot.com or in a search engine for a coupon.  You might find a code for an extra 5% off or free shipping.

Flowers
An easy one but still to be said – look for flowers that are in season or in your area.

Craigslist
Craigslist can offer gently used wedding items at a great price.  Also, take a look at the event services postings.  You might find a florist or photographer who can do great work but offer great prices if they are just starting out.

Buy vs. Rent
Do your homework!  Does it cost $10 to buy but $8 to rent?  It’s better in the long run because you can re-sell making it cheaper than renting.

Bridesmaid Dresses
You are not required to select bridesmaid dresses from a bridal shop.  You can decide to have mismatched but coordinating dresses that the girls can find at retail chains or select them yourself from a retail store.  Take a trip to a high-end outlet mall.  There are always great deals to be had!

These are just a few tips on how to save money.  I’m sure that I’m missing even more!  Feel free to share your cost saving tips below.
